Mission Support

Presbyterian Women are known for "second mile" giving, over and above their church tithes. In fact, the organization began as a "missionary society" supporting mission outreaches.

In addition to congregational mission projects and the annual PW Synod Mission Project, Presbyterian Women in the Synod of the Trinity have the opportunity to give through the PW Mission Pledge, the Thank Offering and the Birthday Offering.

The PW Mission Pledge supports the unified budget and mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the work of PW at all levels.

The PW Thank Offering, collected each fall, funds health initiatives and new mission projects worldwide. The 2015 Thank Offering will provide services for 32 projects that were selected from 62 applications.  Some of those projects include expanding a day care for low income families in Alaska, aiding struggling families in Indiana with essential items for infants and small children, and in our own Synod renovations for a transitional home, updating a computer center for children and adult GED and after school program. Other countries that will be helped are India, Israel, Malawi and the Sudan.Click on the link for more information. (the PCUSA web site has not been updated yet for the 2015 Thank Offering, although you will be able to order your 2015 packets from the PCUSA store)

The Birthday Offering, collected each spring, funds projects not included in the ongoing General Assembly mission support. The 2014 Birthday Offering. The recipients will provide an array of services in their communities—a reading program for children in Phoenix, clean water in India, transportation for refugee families in Nashville, and a pig farming program that will provide income for women in Congo, and much more. The grants awarded total $699,125. At least 40 percent of the offering funds health ministries.
